PARENT SUPPORT ADVISOR
Debi needs your help. She has been asked to find out from parents their views on how services can be made more accessible or closer to where they live. If you have any ideas or views on that please stop and have a chat with her about it or jot your ideas down and pass them in to her office.

MORNINGS IN THE DRIVEWAY
I know I write this in almost every newsletter. However, there are still a number of parents who drive into the school in the mornings to drop off children, especially for breakfast club. This is the busiest time of the day, with staff arriving and deliveries often being made. PLEASE do not use the drive. You are welcome to use The Mermaid Pub and walk across the road. For the sake of the few minutes extra that it would take, the children are so much safer. This is a very awkward site for cars because the access is on a busy junction and the drive is too narrow. Thank you to everyone who follows this guidance and helps us to keep the children safe.

RUNNING MAD!
We have a group of 23 children training for the mini marathon on the Hoe in May. They are running a mile a week and will do the last mile on the Hoe to complete the half marathon distance of 13.2 miles. They are doing really well and are looking forward to their big day.

Thank you to everyone who supported my Paris marathon run—it was a fantastic day. I am still collecting sponsorship money and will confirm the final total when I have it—however, it is looking to be around £550, which includes £200 raised from the mufti day.

A PLEA IN ADVANCE!
We are currently reviewing the things we do in school as we are always looking for things to improve. We had a fantastic response to the questionnaire about chocolate so I am hoping that you can support us in the same way when we ask for your views on different aspects of the school. I am pulling together a few questions for you to consider and hope to have it ready to go out in the next couple of weeks. I am thanking you in advance for your replies!

REMINDER OF DATES
We finish for the Whitsun Break on 22nd May and return to school on 1st June. The school is closed on 4th June for local elections.
The last day of the summer term is 17th July.

NESTLE BOX TOPS
We have raised £38 for books by collecting the box tops from Nestle Cereals. Please keep on sending them in and thank you for helping so far.

SATs
The year 3 and 4 children will be doing assessments over the next week, to see how well they have progressed over the last year. The year 5 and 6 pupils will be doing their assessments in the following week—week beginning 11th May. It is especially important that the year 6 pupils are not absent during this week if it is at all avoidable. Year 2 pupils will be assessed over a period of time that starts during the week beginning 11th May, although they are not likely to be too aware as it is kept as low key as possible.

WIND IN THE WILLOWS
The children in years 3 and 4 did their fantastic performances of Wind in the Willows in the week before the Easter break. They were absolutely brilliant and clearly showed that they have a huge amount of talent. A huge thank you to everyone who supported them, particularly to you for bringing them back for the evening performances.

CROSSING PATROLS
At the moment we have no crossing patrol on the main road as Mrs Abbott is still poorly and there are no relief people available. Mr Clark will not be available to do crossing patrol duties after the Whitsun break. This means that for the foreseeable future there will be no patrols on either of the roads. I will of course keep you up to date if Plymouth City Council are able to find suitable replacements. In the meantime, please ensure your children are aware of the dangers when crossing the road and if necessary make sure they are escorted. I am sure you will want to join me in wishing Mrs Abbott a speedy recovery.
