SPORTS DAYS
We had two really great sports days. The children had a great time and really got into the spirit of the afternoon—taking part in various different activities. We also had several parents who set a good example by taking part! Well done to everyone and thank you for your continued support as always.

EGGBUCKLAND LIBRARY
I have been asked to include a reminder about the library. Don’t forget they will have different activities going on over the summer holidays. The library is in the secondary school and is open all over the Summer holidays.

CHILDREN’S BEHAVIOUR
Over the last few weeks we have been out on numerous trips with different groups of children. We have had a number of comments from bus drivers, members of the public and organisers of events. All of these comments have been positive—saying how well behaved and well mannered the children have been. I am really proud of the children and thought you would like to hear such lovely, positive comments too.

END OF SCHOOL PICK UP
A gentle reminder—if your child is in KS1, can you let both them and the teacher know if someone different will be picking them up at the end of the day. There can sometimes be some confusion and we would like to avoid making any mistakes by letting children go home with the wrong person. If we don’t hear from you, we will not let the children go.

MATHS DAY
We had a group of year 5 children who went along to the university for a maths day. They had a great day and again, were brilliantly well behaved. Thanks to Mrs Thomas who took the children in on the bus.

NEW WEBSITE
Please keep an eye on the Website—we are trying to keep it as up to date as possible with any recent news and changes to planned activities.

SCHOOL UNIFORM
I know it is the end of the Summer Term and some children have either out grown or worn out their shoes. However, from September I hope to see all the children back in their black school shoes. Our uniform is a simple uniform and looks really smart when everyone is turned out appropriately. The P.E. uniform is also very simple. If you need a reminder, you can find it on the website, in the front of the KS2 diary or you can ask for a copy of the prospectus from the office. Thank you for your support in this matter.

LEAVERS
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you and goodbye to all the year six children who are moving on to their new schools. We all wish them well.

SCHOOL FAIR
I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who either came to or helped with the school fair. It was a lovely evening—the weather was kind and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Although we have yet to do the final total with the bills taken out—we will have made about £1000 profit. That is a fantastic total and would not have been possible without your fantastic generosity. I would also like to thank the PTA for organising the event. They are a small band of parents and would welcome some new members!

GRENVILLE HOUSE
We have just had our annual trip to Grenville House in Brixham. A total of 10 staff took 37 children away for the weekend to do adventurous activities. It was a fantastic weekend—the children were so well behaved and worked together brilliantly. We all got very wet at some point over the weekend and all pushed ourselves to try new things. I would like to thank the staff for giving up their weekend—they don’t get paid to do this kind of trip and they can only happen because of the good will shown by those who volunteer to go. I would also like to particularly thank Miss Rankin who did all the organising prior to the trip taking place.

VOLUNTEERS
I would like to remind parents that they are welcome to help in the school if they would like to. If you are interested, please pop in and see the office to get the forms for the CRB checks to be done—as we have to make sure that all people in school are properly checked before they come in regularly.

NEW CARETAKER
We have recently appointed Mr Darrell Young as our new caretaker. We are hoping that he will be able to start after the summer break—depending on the appropriate checks being completed by Plymouth City Council. We look forward to him starting soon!

STAFF NEWS
Sadly we are saying goodbye to Mrs Kastner, one of our teaching assistants. She has been working closely with one of our children who is now moving to a new school. We wish her well and hope to see lots of her in the future. Miss May, one of our teachers is getting married over the summer—congratulations to her. Mrs Llewellyn will be coming back just for a few days in September before starting her maternity leave— congratulations to her and her family. Finally we have a new teacher starting in September—Miss Brokenshire will be working with the 3/4 team. I am sure you will join me in welcoming her to our school.

Finally, thank you for your continued support this year. It has been a very successful year. Have a lovely break and we will see you back nicely rested in September!

Best wishes
Wendy Cording
