MUSIC TUITION
Thanks to Miss Rankin we have a comprehensive range of music lessons taking place. If you have a child in KS2 who has an interest in learning the guitar, drums or keyboard please see Miss Rankin so that she can tell you more about the availability.

HOMEWORK CLUB
Mrs Desborough is running a homework club at lunch time on Tuesdays for year 5/6 children.

DENTAL SCREENING
Just a reminder that the dental screenings are no longer carried out at school. I have been asked to remind parents that regular visits to the dentist are vital to maintain good oral health. If you do not have a dentist you can send your details to Plymouth PCT, Freepost NAT 22278, Plymouth PL6 5ZQ or you can ring the Primary Care Trust Dental Service on 0845 155 8070

MRS. LLEWELLYN
Congratulations to Mrs. Llewellyn who gave birth to a little girl, Bethany, on 23rd of September. Mother and baby both well. Best wishes from us all.

SCHOOL COUNCIL
We have recently had a visit from some children from Compton Primary School. We will be returning the visit, and finding out more about how their School Council runs too. The children were really interested to find out about different schools. This year the school council will be focusing some of their time on what makes interesting lessons. That way they can advise the staff about the things they like! Every class has a School Council member—democratically voted for by the children. These members will seek the views of their class mates, ensuring that all the children have a voice.

SCHOOL UNIFORM
A reminder that school uniform can be bought at the School Uniform Shop in Mayflower Street or online from www.myschooluniform.com

COFFEE MORNING
Don’t forget that Debi, our Parent Support Adviser has organised a coffee morning and mufti day for Friday to support the Macmillan Nurses Charity. There will also be a table sale in the hall. Please support this fabulous charity if you are able to. The table sale will start at 9.30am.

PARENT SUPPORT ADVISER
Don’t forget that Debi is available to provide help and support on any issues that you may have as parents. If she doesn’t know the answer, she will find someone who does! Debi’s hours are available on her office door, but you can always contact her through the school office, or leave a message if she is not around—she will get back to you.

SCHOOL BOOK FAIR

A reminder that the book fair is being delivered this week and begins on Friday 25th September. It will be held in the hall. The fair will end on Wednesday 30th. The more books we sell, the more commission we get as a school—we then use that commission to buy more books. Thank you in advance for your support.

NEW CHILDREN
We have had a lot of new families join the school in the last few weeks. A warm welcome to them. The children have settled in brilliantly—so much so that one was even voted in by their classmates as a school council member! It is as if they have always been here! That is a real testament to our pupils—they are a lovely bunch of children who are accepting of change and make sure everyone is made welcome. I am really proud of them and I am sure you are too!

CONCERNS
If you have any concerns please contact the school—either the teachers or myself. I recently received an anonymous letter from a parent with a concern about the system for selecting the School Council. With no name, I am unable to reply and clear up any misconceptions. We are here to work with you and to ensure the happiness of the children. Please let us know if there is a problem.

SCHOOL CROSSINGS
Our new caretaker, Mr Young has started and we are very pleased to welcome him onto the school team. We are hoping that he will soon start as the crossing patrol too. However we are still waiting for Plymouth City Council to confirm his start date. I am hopeful that they will make a decision soon. In the meantime, please take care about crossing the road as we still have only one crossing patrol. Can I also ask that the children are encouraged to use the correct places to cross and that everyone sets a good example for them. It has been noticed that some children are being crossed over the road in dangerous positions and this encourages others to follow.
